Caligula
Last night, as part of the program of the International Festival of Ancient Drama “Stobi”, the audience had the opportunity to watch the performance “Caligula”, produced by the Kumanovo Theatre.
The performance “Caligula” had a strong focus on the psychological depth of the characters, while the direction by the Kumanovo Theatre created an intense atmosphere of uncertainty and tension. The actors, led by Marko Trajković in the role of Caligula, captured the complex character of the Roman emperor – his power, intense ambition, and the fine line between madness and rationality. The audience witnessed a stage energy that held their attention from the first to the last scene.
“Caligula” raises questions about power and responsibility, absolutism, and individual freedom within society. Through intriguing dialogues and dramatic stage decisions, the performance highlights the timeless dilemma between human ambition and moral responsibility. These themes make the work relevant today, prompting the audience to reflect on their own choices and the limits of freedom.
The performance of “Caligula” was part of a rich and diverse program at the IFAD “Stobi”, which this year again gathered theatrical productions from both domestic and international stages. The festival emphasizes the importance of ancient drama as a living cultural heritage, as well as a platform for contemporary interpretations. Through their performances, the participants enrich the cultural scene and encourage dialogue between generations and cultures.
